The follow-up to Baraka is finally here! Introducing: Samara
Pioneering filmmakers that have expanded the image vocabulary of documentaries, Mark Magidson and Ron Fricke join BYOD to discuss their new creation, Samsara.
"Samsara" will be a visual quest that explores the cycle of birth, death and rebirth. "I feel that my work has evolved through "Koyaanisqatsi", "Chronos" and "Baraka", says Fricke. "Both technically and philosophically I am ready to delve even deeper into my favorite theme: humanity's relationship to the eternal".

KNOW by Stillmotion
I had the opportunity to attend this 10 hour seminar in Brookfield, WI this past weekend and I was pleasantly surprised. They covered using DSLR cameras, including:
how to tell a engaging story,
how to know what camera to use,
knowing what lenses to use to evoke emotion,
how to getting great audio,
editing for the story and
post production w/ DSLRs.
Take a look at the video they put together for the event and if you have any questions regarding this, hit me up:

tokyo slo-mo
I recently came across this little gem while researching speed manipulation. I was amazed at the amount of creativity and complete randomness that was added to make this a video so visually interesting. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did:

One of the most interesting interviews...
...that I've listened to about live TV production.
I met Don Mischer back 2002 while working on the NLB All Star Game's pregame show -
Major League Baseball Top Ten Most Memorable Moments. Don reminded me a mix of both old and new; one that knew where television started while knowing exactly where it is going.
Don most recent work was the 84th Academy Awards on Feb 26, 2012.

Freddie W is at it again!
If you're in the mood to watch short, shoot 'em up viral vids, then you've found it. Freddie W has a slew of great shorts that are action packed and always use inexpensive, camera techniques mixed with practical green/blue screen effects. Check out one of my favorites: Flower Warfare - A Psychedelic Action Scene:
